Daddy's Girl

Now, I have always been a bit of a "daddy's girl"...Cameron knows that I will always think my dad is the strongest, fastest, smartest and basically, the best all around. He tries to live up to my dad for me, but it will never be the same. Now Cameron has a little girl who thinks he is hung on the moon...he is a super hero and can do no wrong. When Kalea is in her chair eating and Cam walks into the room, food flies, legs flail, and her little head is swinging around frantically trying to find the face to match the voice saying her name. Cameron can make her laugh by just looking at her and can calm her when she is distressed. On father's day we went to church. I was singing on stage, so Cameron had to pull daddy duty. Kalea began to fuss a little...I was watching like a hawk from the stage! Cameron stood up and held her and danced a little at the back of the church....that baby fell asleep within moments! She slept on him for most of the service...how fitting that she should choose father's day for the first time to ever sleep through church!
Our new carrier...it is very comfortable for us and her! This is Kalea's first "cookie" (Don't worry Grandma, it is just rice cereal...not a real cookie!)
Kalea helping dad with some math!
Mon pere est le plus fort!...and she really means it!
Again, Kalea helping dad work.

Father's Day

Today was Cameron's first father's day. Kalea bought him a fancy pearlized fountain pen...we think he liked it! We had Amber and Tony over for a BBQ dinner, it was great. Tony tried his hand at feeding a baby, which he found to be a comical experience! The funny part of the video is watching Tony...not Kalea! I'm going to include a few random photos of Kalea for you to enjoy...In a few she is learning how to drink water from a cup, one is of Cam and her today, on father's day and one is of her super hot fashion forward giraffe print shirt that I am in love with! Happy Father's Day to our wonderful, amazing and loving dads...we are so sorry we could not be there to celebrate your special day with you, but we love and appreciate you!

Grande Prairie

Kalea enjoying nature!

The cousin shot

Kalea and I just got home from a nice few days visit in Grande Prairie. We relaxed and went to the park and the river...it was really fun! I think I have the cutest nieces and nephews around....and we are excited to meet the newest one in a few weeks! Amber came over tonite and helped me move all the furniture around again...I always make her work when she comes over here. We tried to video Kalea playing with Brodie...I think Kalea sorta crawled, Amber says I'm just being a 'mom' and sorta made it up....you be the judge!

Swimming Lessons

The video you are about to delight yourself with is that of young miss. bennett riding a duck at swimming lessons. enjoy.

We are big nerds, and have enrolled Kalea into swimming lessons. That's right, lessons. The class is taught by a 17 year old nervous boy who is tone deaf and sings the songs under his breath the entire class. I feel so bad for him...he has to hang out with moms and their babies. The class is so funny...we splash, sing songs and swim around in a circle. Most of the time, Kalea just stares at the ceiling, or looks at her 2 little friends who are also in the class with us. I've been told that Kalea will receive a report card at the end of our month long class...I hope she passes! Today Cameron came along and video taped a bit of the fun. (He thought it was pretty lame). I think Kalea is a pro star and has a promising career as a synchronized swimmer in the near future!

The Day the Mouse Died

The other day I walked into the downstairs washroom and found a little surprise in the toilet....a little mouse. I reacted the same way anyone would....I freaked out. The poor little guy somehow managed to climb into the toilet, where he took his last breath. Cameron promptly went to Home Depot and spent Kalea's college fund on mouse traps, sticky tape to catch mice, mice repellent, and any other 'death to mice' devices. A few days passed, and not a mouse in sight. We were satisfied that victim #1 was just a freak incident. Last night however, Cameron was putting the stroller into the garage when he heard a little "squeak". He checked one of his zillion mouse traps and found victim #2. This morning: victim #3. Now I have to say, we are not heartless mouse killers with no feelings or emotions...we do feel bad...a little. They are kinda cute and their little squeak sounds like a plea for help...but just when I feel empathy for the little mouse, I imagine and giant mouse crawling across Kalea's crib...and all my love of the mouse turns to disgust. We will keep you posted as to our future findings...hopefully the mice have gotten the word out to their other little mice friends..."don't go to that house...there is a mouse killer there!"
